Use of the anchors when installing windows and doors
The usual positioning of the anchors around the perimeter of the window or door frame is shown in the drawing below. If it is not possible to provide anchoring at the specified distances (e.g. due to the fitting of roller shutters, lintels, etc.), it is necessary to ensure sufficient reinforcement of the relevant part of the frame. The same rules should be followed when joining windows and doors into assemblies. If possible, it is not recommended to drill through the window frame at the bottom, which serves to drain rainwater away from the structure. If this cannot be ensured, it is recommended that the head of the screw used be thoroughly sealed to prevent leakage into the profile. When anchoring, it is always necessary to take into account the suitability of the perimeter wall material, the depth of the drilling, the screw diameter, the distance from the wall edge, the free length of the screw (width of the connection joint = gap between the window frame and the wall).
Picture of window anchoring according to ČSN 746077:
A - anchor spacing: metal window max. 800mm | wooden window max. 800mm | plastic window max. 700mm
E - distance from the inner corner of the frame, mullion or partition: approx. 150 mm | approx. 250mm for PVC tinted windows
